umpstart is a national early education organization working toward the day every child in the US enters kindergarten prepared to succeed. It delivers research based and cost effective program by training college students and community volunteers to serve preschoolers in low-income neighborhoods. Through a proven curriculum, these children develop the language and literacy skills they need to be ready for kindergarten, setting them on a path for lifelong success. Jumpstart is a proud member of the AmeriCorps national service network. Jumpstart’s program is replicated across the 14 states and the District of Columbia.
In the same manner, Jumpstart’s Read for the Record, RFTR (https://www.jstart.org/read-for-the-record/) is a national campaign to bring young children together with grownups in their lives to read the same book, on the same day, in communities all over the world. It celebrate literacy in efforts to promote early childhood education. Recently, Jumpstart’s Read for the Record, RFTR (https://www.jstart.org/read-for-the-record/) celebrated their 13th annual RFTR on October 25, 2018, with the book, Maybe Something Beautiful by F. Isabel Campoy and Theresa Howell and illustrated by Rafael Lopez.
Similarly, Jumpstart’s Read for the Record, RFTR (https://www.jstart.org/read-for-the-record/) inspires adults to read with children, spurs educators and organizations to take action towards transformative change in early education and puts books in the hands of more children globally. RFTR is considered as the world’s largest shared reading experienced. Jumpstart’s Read for the Record, RFTR (https://www.jstart.org/read-for-the-record/) brings together millions of people each year in classrooms, libraries, community centers, and homes across America. This annual campaign was launched a decade ago to highlight the importance of building early literacy and language skills for EVERY child, so that all children have the opportunity to enter kindergarten prepared to succeed.

No matter where you live or how old you are, all you need is a copy of the campaign book or access to a computer with internet. When you pledge to read, you’ll receive campaign news and updates on all things RFTR.
